2009
In the summer of 2009 I was part of a series of cultural events that were arranged as part of the Mediterranean Games that was being hosted in Pescara in Abruzzo Italy. I was given the opportunity to have an art residency for 3 months in Pennadomo, a small town nestled in the Apennine mountains. This is one of the most beautiful areas of natural beauty I have ever experienced, and although I had always thought of myself as a landscape painter, my work had always contained elements of the urban, well suburban at least. This location however pushed me to really engage with elements of landscape that I had normally avoided, rugged rocky outcrops, huge swathes of rolling grass land and distant uninterrupted horizons.
In terms of process, all these works were painted in the landscape with some being finished of in the studio.
